Shakeology Cleanse Day 1

I have been a little more than bummed about my lack of weight loss lately so I have decided to do the Shakeology 3 Day Cleanse. Not gonna lie I am doing it mostly for the weight loss, but another benefit is cleansing the body of all the bad toxins and starting over so to speak.

Here is the skinny on the 3 day Shakeology Cleanse:

1. Drink 3 Shakeology shakes per day
2. If your Shakeology is plain (only shake and water) you can add 3 pieces of fruit throughout the day.
3. Eat a salad for dinner - Veggies (as many as you would like) - 4 oz of chicken or fish - 1 Tbs of chia seed, flaxseed or hempseed - 2 Tbs of an olive/vinegar dressing
4. Drink pleanty of water. You can also drink tea and coffee as long as they don't have additives.

Day 1 Recap I started the cleanse on Tuesday.

STARTING STATS - Weight: 134.8
Waist Measurement: 33 inches

Day 1 wasn't as hard as I thought, mind you I was in the right mind set.
- Shakeology 1: 8am
- Decaf Green Tea: 8:30am
- Orange 1: 10am
- Shakeology 2: 11:30am
- 32 oz of water drank by 12pm
- Gum
- Orange 2: 2:30pm
- 32 oz water drank by 4:30pm
- Mixed salad, tomatoes, onions, flaxseed, avocado (added this for taste) and raspberry vinaigrette: 5pm - Triathlon Workout: 7:00-8:30pm
- Shakeology 3: 10pm

The last Shakeology didn't sit well in my stomach after the workout so I decided to skip the last piece of fruit. Overall, my energy was great throughout the day even during my triathlon workout (more on the Triathlon Training Group later).

I weighted myself this morning (day 2) and let me tell you I am very happy with my results thus far. I don't want to spoil the secret and tell you my weight loss until the morning of day 4, but so far it was been worth it! My goal is to get to 125 by May 14th. I honestly think I can do it!

How to Cure Soreness?

I am extremely sore from yesterdays Incline workout. Actually I think what made me sore was the run down the trail. My ankles and shins are on fire.

So what do I do to cure the soreness? The answer is RUN! Today I decided to run on the treadmill in addition to the P90X Chest, Back and Ab workout. I am a little worried about the 5K this Saturday at the Garden of the Gods so I have been running as much as possible to prepare.

I am really proud of the effort I gave on the treadmill today. I ran the 3.2 miles at a speed of 6.7 and higher (I usually run it at 6.5 with little increases at the end). I finished the 5K in 28 minutes which is my personal best on the treadmill. I then pushed through the P90X workouts. I have eaten pretty good today (as long as we don't count the Grande Non-Fat Vanilla Late and Arizona Tea). For dinner I made a Black Bean Tostada from the Clean Eating Magazine. It was actually really good!

Here is the recipe and nutrition info:

Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked black beans
- 1 tsp chipotle pepper, minced (I could not find this)
- 1/2 tsp cumin, ground - 2 tsp fresh lime juice, divided
- 1/2 cup frozen corn kernels, thawed
- 1 multigrain sandwich thin, toasted (I forgot to toast)
- 1 oz low-fat cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 cup frisee, wash, dried and torn (no idea what this is)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved (I added red onions and the green Tabasco for extra flavor) Instructions

1. In a food processor or medium bowl, puree or mash beans. Add chipotle, cumin, chile powder, and 1 tsp lime juice and mix. Add bean mixture to small pan and warm (be careful not to burn).
2. warm corn in another pan.
3. Divide bean mixture between 2 halves. Top with other ingredients.

I Did It!

This morning I climbed the Incline for the very first time! I got stage fright last night and wanted to back out so bad. Luckily I was going with a group of people so I really had no choice. The view was so much more than I excepted. And the steps at times were horrendous. The weather going up was near perfect, but the summit was a little breezy. I learned that if you stop it is a little hard to get going again and if you get behind someone with a slower pace you are in trouble. I felt great going up and I actually finished it faster than expected- 41 minutes. I will definitely be doing the Incline again! Tomorrow starts the last and final round of P90X!!

Thoughts

First things first. I sent my iPhone to a "repair" shop in Ft. Collins to get the screen and LCD plate fixed (I broke it last week). The "Tech" guy was super nice and emailed me multiple times and has kept me updated, until now. It turned sketch when he asked for my phone password. He said they needed it to run one last test. So I gave it to him. Then he emailed and said the LCD plate is not working due to the impact and that I should try and take it to Apple. I emailed back and said ok will do. That was Tuesday. I haven't heard from him since. I emailed him again yesterday and nothing... His emails have the company name, address and phone number plus the company has a website so it all seems legit to me. I am giving him one more day and then I am sicking Preston on his ass! I really don't think the "Tech" guy is stealing my phone, but I would like it back sometime this week!

On another note, I have been a gym rat lately. I ran on the treadmill Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I have lost 2.8 pounds since my breakdown the other night. Today I planned on taking the day off, but due to Preston golfing and eating some bad food at work (we had Panera and Biaggi's catered in for an event we had today) I decided I needed to work some of it off. Luckily Ashley planned on going as well and she let me borrow her swimming gear. I ended up swimming 1 mile without stopping!!! I didn't officially time myself, but Ashley and I think I swam it in 30 to 35 minutes!! Pretty excited about this, not gonna lie!

Just what I was looking for.

Just last night I was thinking how much I missed working out in a group setting. I like that I get uber competitive and push myself like non other. The Biggest Loser reminded me of all this. I love the intensity and determination that Sam and Koli bring to all of their workouts. They are able to feed off of each other and work harder than anyone else, well maybe except for O'Neil.

As I was about to go to bed last night I remembered seeing a poster for a triathlon training group at the gym. Today at the gym I checked it out and signed up! So far there are 4 of us in the group. The group will workout together every Tuesday and Thursday starting next week for 8 weeks. We will work on stroke technique, transitions, block training and well I have no idea what else. I am soo excited! The group training days fit perfectly into my P90X schedule! I am about to start Phase 3 next week so there is no way I am quitting the program now. I can't wait to update you all on everything I learn in the triathlon training sessions. This may be what I have been looking for to kick my butt into gear.

Oh yeah, I just realized last night that Preston and I are officially going to Las Vegas May 14th for his billiards tournament. So if that's not reason enough to get to my goal weight, I am not sure what is.

No Control

This past month has been very hard for me. I have struggled so much with my eating. I have been eating everything in sight. I can't control myself. I have lost the ability to tell myself no. I am not sure how to fix this or what to do. Ashley has stepped in and tried to motivate me and a good friend at work is also trying to keep me accountable. But when they are not around I do not have enough will power to keep myself accountable. This feeling sucks. It sucks because I know I am holding myself back. I am the only reason I am not hitting my goals. No one else is standing in my way. I have been working out 5-6 days a week for over 3 months now and the sad part is the scale in not moving. Some weeks, including this one, I am actually gaining weight. I know that the added weight it not muscle because my cloths are feeling tighter and for the lack of a better word I feel fat.

Ashley and my friend at work have both lost 9 or 10 pounds thus far and have stuck to their workouts and have done an amazing job eating healthy. You can see their results not only physically, but in their attitudes. They both have a new confidence and people are starting to notice. As happy as I am for them, I wish I was able to say I have lost 9 pounds also. My competitive side says I should be right there with them.

This week is Recovery Week in P90X. I am using this week to focus on running and getting ready for the 5K on May 1st. I have heard that the first two miles are uphill. This absolutely terrifies me, especially since Ashley has to work and cannot run with me. So what am I going to do about my diet and lack of focus? Honestly, I have no idea, but I better figure something out quick.

Just plain CRAZY

Have you ever set your alarm at 6am for like 4 days in a row and didn't get up once? Yep, this is what happened to me last week and... this morning.

Preston is about to kill me, literally. He said if I set my alarm for 6am one more time and don't get up he is going to throw me out of the bed. Some might think he is joking, but I get the feeling that he is serious!!

Speaking of Preston he made a bet with his BFF (I like to make fun of him cause they talk almost every-single-day like two school girls). Anyways the bet was that Preston had to run the Garden of the Gods 5K in under 26 minutes to win or lose $50. Everyone told Preston that he was CRAZY for taking this bet, especially since this would be his first 5K and not to mention that the bet precluded him from getting in shape before the race (not that he would have ran beforehand to prepare, but options are always good). The best part was in the beginning Preston thought he could actually do it. I was soo excited to see him run his first 5K and I secretly hoped he would enjoy it and want to run more. But this dream, of sorts, was short lived. Preston must have came to his senses because he backed out of the bet for an undisclosed amount of money. I have faith that his BFF will propose another crazy bet that might someday get Preston running.

Time Is Dwindling Away

Time is slipping away. The triathlon will be here before I know it and if I don't be careful I won't be as prepared as I would like to be. So with that said, it is time to step-up the training. The game plan is to continue P90X in the PM (as normal) and add running, biking and swimming in the AM. My goal is to do two-a-days at least 3 days a week, to start out with. I also need to watch and carefully monitor my calorie intake to make sure I am eating enough to keep up with this intense schedule. On that note all Easter candy needs to leave the house immediately!

Here are my goals for this week:
- Continue with P90X
- Workout twice a day, 3 days this week
- Log and track all calories
- Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day

Friday is going to be a challenge for me. I am going to the Rockies Opening Day with some co-workers. I know this will involve beer and ballpark food that I know I will not be able to pass up. I am just going to have to be okay with this and make sure I eat super-duper clean and work hard the other 5 days. Tomorrow I am getting up early to swim, then P90X Plyo (my favorite P90X workout) in the PM.

No time for procrastination!!!
