Life Happens

I just completed week 2 of P90X. Well... sort of. To be honest I skipped Yoga and I have not completed Kempo. Although I am mad at myself for not completing these two workouts, I have accepted that sometimes life just gets in the way. I had to make a decision as to what was more important and this week I chose friends and family. I am excited to get back on track and work really hard this coming week. I have not measured myself since I have started, but I can tell I am losing inches just by the way my clothes are fitting. I can't wait to post my 30 days pictures so you all can see my progress! Here is a quick overview of weeks 1-3 in the life of P90X: Day 1: Chest, Back & Ab Ripper X- mostly push ups, pull ups and abs Day 2: Plyo- intense cardio that is pretty similar to Insanity (heismans, tires, pond jumping, jump shots) Day 3: Shoulders, Arms & Ab Ripper X- here you mainly life weights working on various arm and shoulder muscles and of course abs Day 4: Yoga- advanced yoga positions, balancing positions and stretching Day 5: Legs, Back & Ab Ripper X- squats, wall squats, calf raises, pull ups and abs Day 6: Kempo- cardio with kickboxing moves Day 7: Rest! Keep bringing it everyone and remember that it is okay to miss a workout every once in awhile when something really important comes up in your life.

The Transformation Begins

I am happy to report that I started P90X on Saturday! Only two days into it and I am extremely sore. It must be working! Here are my starting body measurements and fitness test results so you can see my progress. I will post my before and after picture once I finish phase 1 (30 days). Body Measurements weight: 130.4 Waist 32 Hips 36 Chest 33 R/L Arm 11.5 R/L Thigh 22.5 Body Fat 26.3% Test Results Pull Ups (palms in) 2 Pull Ups (palms out) 1 Vertical Leap 12 Push ups from Toes 25 Inches from Toes -4 (means I cannot touch my toes!) Ins & Outs 35 Wall Squats 1 min 11 sec Arm Curls 12lbs/13 reps Overview Day 1 is Chest and Back. During this exercise you do different variations of push ups, pull ups and weight lifting. I burned 1527 calories for the entire day; however, I only wore the Bodybugg during this workout. My Bodybugg wasn't working right so I am not sure how many were burned during this specific workout. At my peak, I burned 5 calories per second. Day 2. I didn't leave myself enough time on Saturday to do Ab X so I added it to today's workout. Ab X is all out the abs and strengthening of your core. Even though this workout is only 15 minutes, the moves are designed to make your abs burn. Day 2 is Plyometrics. Going into this workout I had no idea what to expect. Let me tell you, this workout is gut wrenching! Tony has you do lunges, squat jacks, heismans, frog jumps and other moves similar to what you do in the Insanity program. By the end of the 58 minute workout I was exhausted and could hardly move. I have burned 1434 calories so far today. Bodybugg projects that if I am sedentary for the remainder of today I will burn around 1700 calories. At my peak, I burned 6.4 calories per second. Tomorrow is Shoulders & Arms and Ab X.
